Baez, Rodriguez bats carry Cards to six-game sweep

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR - Jesus Baez and Rainiel Rodriguez combined on a huge Sunday afternoon to help the Cardinals win two games and complete a six-game sweep of the Arkansas Travelers at Dickey-Stephens Park.

Baez total four home runs on the day. His first came in the completion of Saturday night's rain suspended contest. He blasted a two-run shot in the top of the ninth to help the Cardinals wrap up a 4-2 win.

In the regularly scheduled game, Baez hit two more home runs and went back-to-back with Rodriguez twice to lead Springfield to an 11-4 win.

The duo each recorded four hits in the game.

Baez leads the Cardinals with 20 home runs. Rodriguez ranks second on the club with 17.

NOTES:
• Rodriguez extended his hitting streak to 14 games with a 4-for-4 afternoon. It marked his second four hit game of the week. Both are the only four hit games of his career.
• Rodriguez finished hit .583 in the series (14-for-24).
• Deniel Ortiz finished 1-for-3 to extend his hitting streak to 15 games. It's the longest on the club this season.
