The Quad Cities River Bandits added both a win and a loss to their record on an eventful Friday night at Community Field. The Bandits picked up an 8-7 win over the Burlington Bees in the contest that was resumed in the tenth inning after being suspended on Thursday, but dropped a 4-2 decision in Friday's regularly scheduled game.
Willy Collado opened the game that was resumed from Thursday night by stranding Julio Garcia at second base with a pair of strikeouts in the bottom of the tenth. A bases loaded wild pitch from Burlington pitcher Zack Kelly gave the Bandits an 8-7 lead in the top of the 11th inning. Collado ended the game by whiffing Kevin Williams Jr. with the tying run at third base in the bottom of the frame to give the Bandits a victory to open the night.
Seth Beer reached base five times in the contest and extended his hit streak to 12 games. Ruben Castro and Colton Shaver each finished with two runs batted in.

The regularly scheduled game got off to a good start for the River Bandits as well. Marty Costes reached on an error when first baseman Connor Fitzsimons dropped the throw on his groundball to the left side to open the game. Costes went to second on a passed ball and scored when David Hensley slapped a base hit into right field.
The lead doubled in the top of the third inning. Costes worked a walk to open the frame and raced all the way to third on a bouncer through the right side from Beer. David Hensley followed by rolling into a double play with Costes scoring from third to make it 2-0.
J.B. Bukauskas worked 3.0 scoreless innings to open the night before Burlington began their rally. With two on base and two outs, Julio Garcia drove a double over the head of Beer in right field that one-hopped the wall to put Burlington on the board and cut the Bandits lead in half.
In the fifth inning, Fitzsimons singled to open the frame and was at first base when Bukauskas was replaced by Edgardo Sandoval. Sandoval, making his 2018 Bandits debut, walked Leonardo Rivas and then gave up an RBI double to Torii Hunter Jr. that tied the score. With two in scoring position, Kevin Williams Jr. rolled a single through the right side to score both runners and give the Bees a 4-2 advantage. That score turned out to be the final as the Bandits put the tying run on base in the ninth, but came up empty.
Bukauskas allowed two runs on three hits in 4.1 innings while striking out seven. Sandoval was saddled with the loss after surrendering a pair of runs on three hits. He also finished with seven strikeouts.
The River Bandits were limited to five hits in the game. Beer's single in the third extended his hitting streak to 13 games. Costes scored both Bandits runs and Hensley was responsible for the lone RBI.
The River Bandits (17-16, 57-46) will remain in the state of Iowa to continue their road trip against the Cedar Rapids Kernels (25-9, 57-46) on Saturday night. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. in the series opener. The Bandits will have RHP Bryan Abreu (1-0, 0.00) on the mound against Kernels RHP Blayne Enlow (2-2, 3.16).
All River Bandits games are broadcast on 1170 K-BOB and TuneIn Radio. Home games are also available with video on MiLB.TV.
