Barfield named Eastern League Player of the Month

Portland, Maine - Sea Dogs outfielder Jeremy Barfield has been selected as the Eastern League Player of the Month for July, announced by the league office on Friday. Barfield is the first Sea Dog to win player of the month since Sean Coyle in 2014 (June).

Portland, Maine - Sea Dogs outfielder Jeremy Barfield has been selected as the Eastern League Player of the Month for July, announced by the league office on Friday. Barfield is the first Sea Dog to win player of the month since Sean Coyle in 2014 (June).

Barfield batted .336 (37-for-110) 12 home runs, 33 RBIs, 26 runs scored, a .422 on-base percentage, and a .709 slugging percentage in 30 games during the month. The 29-year old was named the Eastern League Player of the Week on Monday. 
Barfield's homers, RBI and total bases (78) were the most in any month in franchise history. In 64 games this season, Barfield is hitting .306 (75-for-245) with 19 homers (team-high) and 51 RBI. He currently owns a season-high, 13-game hitting streak.
The Red Sox signed Barfield from the Sugar Land Skeeters (Atlantic League) on May 25, 2017. In 35 games with Sugar Land, he hit .274 with 9 homers and 21 RBI.
Jeremy, who is the son of former MLB All-Star Jesse Barfield, was originally drafted by the Oakland Athletics in the eighth round of the 2008 draft out of San Jacinto College and also previously spent time in the Colorado organization.
