Portland, Maine - Portland Sea Dogs outfielder Jeremy Barfield has been named the Eastern League Player of the Week (week of July 24-30), announced by the league office earlier today.

Portland, Maine - Portland Sea Dogs outfielder Jeremy Barfield has been named the Eastern League Player of the Week (week of July 24-30), announced by the league office earlier today.

Barfield hit .444 (12-for-27) with 6 homers and 15 RBI during Portland's seven-game roadtrip at New Hampshire and Harrisburg. The Houston, Texas native compiled a .500 on-base percentage and a 1.148 slugging percentage. Barfield is the second Sea Dog to take home the player-of-the-week honors, as Rafael Devers won the award on May 8th.
Barfield finished July leading all minor leaguers with 12 homers and 33 RBI. Those marks were both franchise records for any month. In addition, Barfield is hitting .306 (71-for-233) with 18 homers and 48 RBI in 61 games with the Sea Dogs. He closed out the month with a season-high, 10-game hitting streak.
The Red Sox signed Barfield from the Sugar Land Skeeters (Atlantic League) on May 25, 2017. In 35 games with Sugar Land, he hit .274 with 9 homers and 21 RBI
