Barnes superb again as Miracle blank Tampa, 13-0

TAMPA, Fla. - Charlie Barnes tossed six scoreless innings to run his consecutive scoreless streak to 16.2 innings, as the Fort Myers Miracle shut out the Tampa Tarpons, 13-0, on Thursday night at George M. Steinbrenner Field.
Barnes (3-4), who allowed just three singles, walked two and struck out two. The left-hander was lifted in the seventh after hitting the leadoff batter.
With no score in the fourth, the Miracle's Alex Kirilloff knocked home the game's first run on a ground out.
In the fifth, Caleb Hamilton drove one over the wall in left to push the Miracle lead to 2-0.
Shane Carrier made it 5-0 Miracle with a three-run home run in the sixth. Three of Carrier's six hits with the Miracle this season have left the ballpark.
The Miracle plated five runs in the seventh off the Tampa bullpen. Alex Kirilloff drove in his second run of the night on a sacrifice fly. Lewin Diaz followed with a run scoring single. Later in the inning, Hamilton delivered a three-run double to give the Miracle a 10-0 lead.
Leading 10-0 in the eighth, Kirilloff drove in his third run of the night on a single to center. The 20-year old has nine RBI's in his first seven games with Fort Myers. A wild pitch later in the frame gave the Miracle a 12-0 advantage.
Hamilton finished the scoring with a solo home run in the ninth, his second long ball of the night. The Miracle catcher finished with five RBI's and has homered in back-to-back games.  
Tampa right-hander Albert Abreu surrendered five runs (four earned) on seven hits in six innings of work. Abreu (3-3), walked three and struck out three. Andrew Schwaab followed and was tagged for seven runs in two innings of work before Matt Frawley finished the night by allowing a run in an inning of relief.
After Barnes was lifted in the seventh, Hector Lujan entered and tossed three scoreless innings to preserve the shutout and earn his first save of the season.
With Thursday night's win, the Miracle finished their first road trip of the second half with five wins in seven games.
The Miracle open a three-game series in Fort Myers Friday night against the Lakeland Flying Tigers, Class-A Advanced affiliate of the Detroit Tigers. First pitch is slated for 7:00 p.m.
