BayBears blank Barons, Thaiss drives in only run

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (July 11, 2017) - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, allowed just three hits in a 1-0 win over the Birmingham Barons Tuesday night at Regions Field.Matt Thaiss drove in the only run for the BayBears (39-48 overall, 9-9 second half).

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (July 11, 2017) - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, allowed just three hits in a 1-0 win over the Birmingham Barons Tuesday night at Regions Field.
Matt Thaiss drove in the only run for the BayBears (39-48 overall, 9-9 second half). Michael Hermosillo got the first Mobile hit of the game, an infield single with one out in the sixth inning, and stole second base. Thaiss followed with an RBI double to left field.
Grayson Long (4-5) matched his season-high with eight strikeouts in six scoreless innings. He gave up just three hits and one walk, while striking out the side in two different frames.
Justin Anderson , Conor Lillis-White , and Michael Dimock each tossed 1-2-3 innings to preserve the shutout. Birmingham (33-55, 7-12) did not have a runner on base after a double with one out in the fifth.
Spencer Adams (7-8) was on the wrong side of the pitchers' duel, despite striking out a career-high 12 batters in 7 1/3 innings pitched. Adams took a no-hitter into the sixth inning before allowing one run on two hits.
The BayBears wrap up the four-game road series against Birmingham Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. CT.
