PENSACOLA, Fla. (June 15, 2018) - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, were held to just one hit in a 5-0 shutout loss to the Pensacola Blue Wahoos Friday night at Blue Wahoos Stadium.
After giving up a pair of runs on three hits in the first inning, Jose Rodriguez (5-7) retired 17 straight batters until a leadoff single in the seventh. Pensacola (30-36) added three more runs on a pair of hits in the frame, and Rodriguez took the loss.
Keury Mella (6-3) held the BayBears (35-31) hitless in a five-inning start. He walked three batters in the second, but Mobile could not take advantage of the bases-loaded opportunity. Mella recorded five strikeouts in the win.
Mobile's only hit of the hit came on Jared Walsh 's leadoff double in the seventh inning. Walsh was left stranded in scoring position.
Dario Beltre pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings, issued one walk, and struck out two batters in his Double-A debut.
The BayBears continue the five-game road series against Pensacola Saturday at 6:05 p.m. CDT.
