MOBILE, Ala. (May 15, 2019) - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, got on the board in the bottom of the eighth but came up one run short in the series finale, falling 2-1 to the Jackson Generals Wednesday night at Hank Aaron Stadium.
After a pair of rocky starts to begin the month, Jeremy Beasley pitched five scoreless innings and struck out six batters in a no-decision. Beasley pitched out of a bases-loaded jam in the first and gave up just four Jackson (22-16) hits.
Bo Takahashi (3-2) matched Beasley and went on to throw an additional two scoreless frames, earning the win in a seven-inning start. Takahashi only allowed three hits and struck out seven.
Trailing 2-0 in the eighth, the BayBears (15-24) plated a run on a Brandon Marsh double against former BayBear Damien Magnifico. However, Mobile left runners on second and third in each of the last two innings. The BayBears went 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.
Jahmai Jones extended his hit streak to 10 games with a single in the eighth inning. Jhoan Urena reached base for his 13th consecutive game with a single in the fourth.
The BayBears begin a five-game road series against the Pensacola Blue Wahoos Thursday at 6:35 p.m. Right-handed pitcher Luis Madero (1-2, 4.20 ERA) is scheduled to make the start against righty Griffin Jax (2-1, 1.35 ERA) for the Blue Wahoos.
