BILOXI, Miss. (July 1, 2019) - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, fell to the Biloxi Shuckers 4-3 in 11 innings Monday night at MGM Park.
Trailing 2-0 through five innings, the BayBears (32-48 overall, 5-7 second half) plated three runs in the top of the sixth. After getting on the board courtesy of a fielding error, Bo Way drew a bases-loaded walk to tie the game. Brandon Sandoval followed with a sacrifice fly to give Mobile a 3-2 lead.
However, Biloxi (46-36, 5-7) evened the score in the eighth inning and walked off on a Michael O'Neill single off Way (0-1) in the 11th.
The BayBears pitching staff matched a season-high with 16 strikeouts in the game. Luis Pena led the team with six in 2 2/3 hitless innings of relief. Tyler Carpenter and Ryan Clark both fanned five batters.
The BayBears continue the four-game road series against Biloxi Tuesday at 6:35 p.m. Right-handed pitcher Luis Madero (4-4, 4.29 ERA) is scheduled to make the start against righty Dylan File (2-0, 1.08 ERA) for the Shuckers.
