MOBILE, Ala. (May 25, 2019) - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, had runners on base in all nine innings but were shut out for the second straight game 5-0 by the Biloxi Shuckers Saturday night at Hank Aaron Stadium.
The BayBears (19-29) had runners in scoring position in seven of the nine innings but left 13 men stranded and eight in scoring position. Mobile went just 1-for-14 with runners in scoring position, with the only hit coming in the third.
Brandon Marsh and Bo Way both had three-hit games. Marsh had the only hit with runners in scoring position, an infield single. Way collected a pair of doubles but was left in scoring position both times.
Jason Alexander (1-2) faced the minimum in four of the first five innings. However, after retiring the first eight batters of the game, he gave up three runs on three hits and a walk in the third.
Devin Williams (6-2) earned the win with two scoreless innings of relief for Biloxi (27-22). The BayBears loaded the bases with one out in the ninth, trailing 5-0, but Nate Griep retired the final two batters to earn his league-high 10th save.
The BayBears were shut out in consecutive games for the first time this season and have gone 22 consecutive innings without scoring a run.
