MOBILE, Ala. (July 20, 2017) - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, gave up just three hits but were defeated 4-1 by the Chattanooga Lookouts Thursday night at Hank Aaron Stadium.
The Mobile (42-63 overall, 12-14 second half) bullpen retired 13 straight batters to end the game, but the Lookouts held on to their 4-1 lead. Chattanooga (63-34, 21-6) plated four runs on three hits against Jake Jewell (5-7), before Greg Mahle entered the game with two outs in the fifth inning. Mahle got the final out of the fifth and all three in the sixth, Conor Lillis-White retired the side in order in the next two frames, and Tyler Warmoth pitched a 1-2-3 ninth.
The BayBears sent the tying run to the plate in the seventh and ninth inning but failed to score another run after Michael Hermosillo 's first-inning tally. Two straight fly outs left a pair of runners stranded in the seventh, and a strikeout and a double play ended the ninth after Mobile put two men in scoring position.
Kohl Stewart (4-4) gave up just one run on one hit in five innings pitched to earn the win.
In addition to scoring the only Mobile run, Hermosillo finished the game 3-for-4 with a double.
