CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (June 4, 2019) - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, scored four runs in the final two innings but fell 5-4 to the Chattanooga Lookouts Tuesday night at AT&T Field.
After a hitless game Monday, Jo Adell went 2-for-5 at the plate and hit a two-out RBI double in the eighth to get the BayBears (21-36) on the board. Jahmai Jones followed with another two-bagger, and he scored later in the inning on a fielding error.
Connor Justus broke out of his 0-for-35 slump with a two-out RBI single in the ninth to cut Chattanooga's lead to 5-4. However, the BayBears left a pair of runners stranded in the frame, and Joel Kuhnel recorded his ninth save.
For the second consecutive game, Chattanooga's starting pitcher held the BayBears scoreless. Packy Naughton (2-1) tossed six scoreless innings and struck out six batters to earn the win for the Lookouts (32-25).
Luis Madero (3-3) allowed four runs on a season-high nine hits in a five-inning start.
The BayBears continue the five-game road series against Chattanooga Wednesday at 6:15 p.m. CDT.
