MOBILE, Ala. (June 23, 2019) - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, were defeated 9-1 by the Jackson Generals Sunday afternoon at Hank Aaron Stadium.
The BayBears (29-43 overall, 2-2 second half) broke up the shutout bid with a run in the bottom of the eighth inning. Connor Justus drove in Erick Salcedo with a double to get Mobile on the board.
Bo Takahashi (5-3) tossed seven scoreless innings for the Generals (41-33, 2-2) after holding the BayBears scoreless in a seven-inning start last month. Takahashi did not issue a walk and struck out seven batters.
Drew Ellis hit his third home run in the past four games to open the scoring against Jeremy Beasley (3-4) in the fourth. Jazz Chisholm followed with his second long ball of the series in the fifth. Jackson broke the game open with seven runs on eight hits in the seventh.
Jo Adell went 2-for-4 and has collected multiple hits in eight of his 16 games with Mobile this year.
The BayBears wrap up the five-game home series against Jackson Monday at 6:35 p.m. Right-handed pitcher Zack Kelly (1-2, 2.40 ERA) is scheduled to make the start against righty Riley Smith (4-4, 1.75 ERA) for the Generals.
