BayBears grab early lead, but slip in series finale

Klonowski notches season-high strikeouts, Ward reaches four times

MOBILE, Ala. (August 8, 2017) - After taking an early lead, the Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, were defeated by the Montgomery Biscuits 7-1 Tuesday night at Hank Aaron Stadium.
The BayBears (53-61 overall, 23-22 second half) scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the fourth. After loading the bases with no outs, Brennon Lund hit an RBI single. However, José Mujica (10-8) got three straight outs, including a pair of strikeouts, to retire the side. Mobile left the bases loaded in the fourth and eighth.
Montgomery (63-53, 26-19) tied the game in the fifth on Andrew Velazquez's RBI single. The Biscuits scored four runs in the sixth, including a two-run inside-the-park home run by Nick Ciuffo.
Despite taking the loss, Alex Klonowski (5-7) notched a season-high seven strikeouts. He allowed two runs on four hits in five-plus innings pitched.
The BayBears begin a five-game road series against Pensacola Thursday at 6:35 p.m. CT.
