BILOXI, Miss. (August 15, 2018) - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, led 5-1 in the sixth inning but fell 6-5 to the Biloxi Shuckers Wednesday night at MGM Park.
The BayBears (60-59 overall, 23-28 second half) scored three runs in the first two innings. Brendon Sanger added a solo home run in the fifth, and Mitch Ghelfi drove in his second run of the game in the sixth to give Mobile a 5-1 lead.
However, the Shuckers (69-53, 28-24) scored the final five runs of the game. Clint Coulter hit a three-run triple in the sixth and scored the tying run on a groundout. Biloxi pushed across the go-ahead run on a missed catch error in the eighth. Mobile committed four errors in the game.
For the second straight day, Jon Olczak (8-3) earned a win in relief. Nate Griep worked around a two-out walk to record his league-high 29th save.
The BayBears continue the six-game road series against Biloxi Thursday at 6:35 p.m. CDT.
