JACKSON, Tenn. (August 5, 2019) - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, grabbed a lead for the first time in the series but fell to the Jackson Generals 3-2 in walk-off fashion Monday night at the Ballpark at Jackson.
Zack Kelly struck out a career-high 10 batters in six scoreless innings. He gave up just two hits and did not issue a walk.
The BayBears (41-71 overall, 14-30 second half) jumped in front in the first inning on a Jack Kruger RBI single. Julian Leon doubled the lead with a run-scoring base hit in the fourth.
However, Jeffrey Baez tied the game in the seventh with a two-run homer to left field. After a fielding error and a pair of walks to start the ninth, Drew Ellis drove in the winning run with a single off Austin Warren (1-1).
Four Jackson (65-47, 26-16) relievers held the BayBears hitless for the final 3 2/3 innings. West Tunnell (1-0) retired the side in order in the top of the ninth and earned his first Double-A win.
