BayBears nearly erase four-run deficit, but fall by one

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (June 12, 2017) - After giving up four runs in the first two innings, the Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, nearly erased the deficit but fell 4-3 to the Birmingham Barons Monday at Regions Field.
The BayBears (28-36) plated a pair of two-out runs in the third and one more in the fourth. Forrestt Allday and Josè Briceño both had RBI singles to cut Birmingham's lead in half, and Michael Hermosillo hit an RBI double the following inning.
Mobile had men on base in seven of the nine innings but left 14 runners stranded. Brandon Brennan struck out the final four batters of the game to earn his sixth save of the season.
After scoring four runs, three earned, off Osmer Morales (3-2) in the first two frames, the BayBears held Birmingham (23-40) scoreless for seven straight innings. Tyler Warmoth and Conor Lillis-White both pitched two scoreless innings of relief. Lillis-White has not allowed a hit in his last 9 1/3 innings pitched.
The BayBears wrap up the five-game road series against Birmingham Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. CT. Right-hander Grayson Long (3-4, 3.31 ERA) is slated to make the start against southpaw Jordan Guerrero (1-7, 4.39 ERA) for the Barons.
