JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (April 13, 2018) - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, scored two runs in the sixth inning but fell 9-2 to the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp Friday night at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.
Trailing 4-0, Hutton Moyer drove in Taylor Ward with a triple to left-center field. Two batters later, Moyer crossed home on a Connor Justus single to center.
However, for the second straight night, Jacksonville (4-4) extended its 4-2 lead in the eighth inning. The Jumbo Shrimp scored five runs, with four walks and a Colby Lusignan double highlighting the frame. Lusignan finished the game with four RBIs.
Ivan Pineyro (0-1) took the loss for the BayBears (3-5), giving up four runs on four hits with nine strikeouts. Jeff Brigham (2-0) matched his career-high with 10 strikeouts in five innings without allowing a run. Brigham has tossed 10 straight scoreless frames to begin the season.
Brennon Lund had his second multi-hit game of the series, going 2-for-4. Zach Gibbons extended his hit streak to eight games with a single in the fifth.
 
The BayBears continue the five-game road series against Jacksonville Saturday at 5:35 p.m. CDT. Right-handed pitcher Jose Rodriguez (1-0, 0.00 ERA) is scheduled to make the start against righty Merandy Gonzalez (0-0, 0.00 ERA) for the Jumbo Shrimp.
