MOBILE, Ala. (May 6, 2017) - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, erased a five-run deficit but gave up four home runs and lost 10-6 to the Jackson Generals Saturday night in front of 3,238 fans at Hank Aaron Stadium.
After falling behind early on a Jaime Westbrook grand slam and a Kevin Cron solo homer off Justin Kelly , making his first Double-A start, the BayBears (11-18) rallied to tie the game 5-5. Mobile plated four runs on five hits in the fourth inning, and then Wade Wass belted a solo home run in the sixth. It was his third long ball of the season and second this series.
However, Rudy Flores put Jackson (19-9) back in front with a three-run homer off Cody Buckel (1-1) in the eighth. Cron added a pair of ninth-inning insurance runs with his second dinger of the game. The Generals have hit eight home runs in the series and 11 against the BayBears this year.
Forrestt Allday 's 10-game hitting streak came to an end with an 0-for-3 night at the plate. Allday drew two walks, extending his on-base streak to 12 straight games.
The BayBears wrap up the five-game home series Sunday at 2:05 p.m. CT against Jackson. Right-hander Jake Jewell (0-1, 11.25 ERA) is slated to make the start against righty Brooks Hall (1-1, 6.43 ERA) for the Generals.
