MOBILE, Ala. (May 16, 2017) - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, plated three runs in the ninth inning to defeat the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp 4-3 Tuesday night at Hank Aaron Stadium.
The BayBears (16-23) entered the ninth inning trailing 3-1 but loaded the bases on an error, a walk, and a single against Kyle Lobstein (0-1). Luis Tejada drove in the first run with a base hit and two batters later, Zach Gibbons sealed the victory with a two-run, walk-off single to left field. It was the first win for Mobile when trailing after the eighth inning.
Osmer Morales made his second start since returning from the 7-day disabled list. He gave up just one run on three hits in five innings pitched but did not factor in the decision. The game was tied 1-1 from the third inning until the eighth. Justin Anderson retired all six batters he faced in two innings of relief.
David Vidal broke the deadlock with an RBI triple to center field off Ivan Hernandez (1-0) in the eighth inning. He scored later in the frame to put Jacksonville (15-24) ahead 3-1.
Forrestt Allday went 0-for-3 but drew a walk in the third inning to extend his on-base streak to 21 games.
The BayBears wrap up the five-game home series Wednesday at 11:05 a.m. CT. Right-hander Jake Jewell (1-2, 5.40 ERA) is slated to make the start against righty Chris Mazza (0-2, 3.82 ERA) for Jacksonville.
