BayBears storm back from six-run deficit to beat Pensacola

Two home runs in fourth inning spark BayBears rally

MOBILE, Ala. (August 10, 2018) - After trailing 6-0 in the middle of the fourth inning, the Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, reeled off eight unanswered runs to defeat the Pensacola Blue Wahoos 8-6 Friday night at Hank Aaron Stadium.
Jose Rojas hit a solo home run, his team-high 17th, in the bottom of the fourth to begin the comeback in motion. Later in the frame, Mitch Ghelfi hit a three-run homer to put the BayBears (57-57 overall, 20-26 second half) within striking distance. Ghelfi matched his career-high with four RBIs in the game, adding a sacrifice fly in the eighth.
Roberto Baldoquin drove in the next three runs to put Mobile in front for good. His RBI single in the fifth inning cut the deficit to one, and he plated a pair of runs with a single to right field off Carlos Navas (4-3) in the seventh.
Jose Rodriguez struck out a season-high 11 batters in a five-inning start. Alex Klonowski (9-2) held the Blue Wahoos (61-54, 31-16) scoreless for the final four innings and got out of a bases-loaded jam in the eighth inning.
The BayBears continue the five-game home series against Pensacola Saturday at 7:05 p.m. CDT. Right-handed pitcher Jason Alexander (0-5, 4.05 ERA) is scheduled to make the start against righty Daniel Wright (6-7, 3.70 ERA) for the Blue Wahoos.
