PENSACOLA, Fla. (May 20, 2019) - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, came back to tie the game twice but ultimately were defeated 4-2 by the Pensacola Blue Wahoos in the series finale Monday night at Blue Wahoos Stadium.
Erick Salcedo hit his first home run since June 11, 2017 to even the score 1-1 in the top of the second. After falling behind 2-1 on an Ernie De La Trinidad home run, Brendon Sanger hit his fourth long ball in the top of the fourth. All of his home runs have come against Pensacola (28-17), with three at Blue Wahoos Stadium.
Jhoan Urena extended his on-base streak to 18 games with a single in the fourth. He has the longest active streak in the league and is just two games shy of the longest overall this season.
Both starters, Jeremy Beasley and Randy Dobnak, worked five innings and gave up two runs. The Blue Wahoos broke the tie in the bottom of the sixth, when Zack Kelly (1-2) walked a pair of batters and gave up back-to-back RBI singles with two outs.
The BayBears got four hits in the final four frames but failed to score against Tyler Jay (1-1), Williams Ramirez, and Cody Stashak. Stashak earned his fourth save of the season, working around a two-out single in the ninth.
The BayBears begin a five-game home series against the Biloxi Shuckers Wednesday at 6:35 p.m. Right-handed pitcher Luis Madero (1-2, 4.29 ERA) is scheduled to make the start against righty Alec Bettinger (1-3, 5.62 ERA) for the Shuckers.
