BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (June 11, 2017) - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, defeated the Birmingham Barons 5-2 in a Sunday matinee at Regions Field.
Alex Klonowski (3-2) matched his career-high with seven innings pitched. He allowed two runs, struck out six, and did not issue a walk in a quality start. Adam Hofacket kept Birmingham off the board for the final two innings to earn his third save of the season.
The BayBears (28-35) elevated Michael Kopech's pitch count early, and he departed after just 3 2/3 innings. Despite only giving up one run on three hits, he walked four batters and threw 91 pitches. It matched Kopech's shortest outing of the season.
After Birmingham (22-40) scored in the second, Tim Arakawa tied the game with an RBI single in the fourth. Mobile plated two runs in the fifth to take the lead and two more in the seventh on a Zach Houchins double.
David Fletcher went 3-for-4 with a pair of runs, reaching base four times.
