Beede delivers superb start in River Cats 4-2 win

El Paso, TX - Tyler Beede earned his first road win of the season and lead the way for the Sacramento River Cats (30-45) as they took care of the El Paso Chihuahuas (37-40) 4-2 Monday night.

Beede went a season-high eight innings in his first career appearance against El Paso, yielding two solo home runs during his outing. The right-hander allowed just two hits during the rest of his outing while walking two and striking out seven. He threw 102 pitches (69 for strikes) and collected his first base hit of the season in the fifth inning. Beede improved his road record to 1-4 after tonight's performance and lowered his ERA from 6.58 to 5.85 away from Raley Field. Submariner Tyler Rogers closed out the game with four pitches to earn his second save.
Sacramento got their first run of the ball game in the fourth thanks to a solo home run of their by Jae-Gyun Hwang, his seventh of the year. The River Cats tacked on three more runs in the sixth on an Ali Castillo two-out triple which cleared the bases and put Sacramento up for good at 4-2.
The River Cats will send right-hander Chris Stratton (3-4, 5.37) to the hill for game two tomorrow night. The Chihuahuas will counter with righty Matt Magill (4-4, 4.28). First pitch is set for 6:05 p.m. (PT) and the game can be heard live online at rivercats.com and on the air on ESPN 1320.

Beede: Tyler Beede has now thrown 86.1 innings this season, the second-most in the PCL…tonight's start was his first since May 23rd in which he allowed two runs or fewer…Beede has allowed 11 of the team's 25 home runs this month.
Hwang: First baseman Jae-Gyun Hwang smacked his seventh home run of the season, five of which have come on the road…owns a team-leading .323 batting average in June with 14 RBI and 14 walks…played in his team-leading 68th game tonight…next closest player is Orlando Calixte with 55 games played.
Castillo in the clutch: Second baseman Ali Castillo registered his first three-RBI game with Sacramento tonight…now hitting .400 (4-for-10) with six RBI with runners in scoring position and two outs…had been 1-for-13 in his last five games at the plate (.077).
Rogers: Right-hander Tyler Rogers made his 31st appearance tonight, tied for the most in the PCL…earned his second save and is now 2-for-4 in save opportunities this season.
