SALT LAKE CITY (Aug. 9, 2017) - Alex Verdugo hit a three-run homer over the right field fence to give the Oklahoma City Dodgers a 6-3 victory in 11 innings over the Salt Lake Bees on Wednesday night.

The Bees and Dodgers got started an hour late after a rain delay and then played until nearly midnight with the help of extra innings. Salt Lake took a 3-1 lead after five innings thanks to a Carlos Pèrez two-run homer and held the lead until the eighth, but the Dodgers climbed back into the game with runs on a Edwin Ríos single and Adrián González sacrifice fly to tie the game. They would remain tied until the 11th when Trayce Thompson and O'Koyea Dickson led off the inning with singles and Alex Verdugo took the first pitch of the at bat over the wall.
Jason Gurka (1-1) took the loss after allowing the extra inning homer, his first earned runs since June 30, a span of 12 consecutive outings. Bees starter John Lamb took a hard luck no decision after turning in his finest outing in a Bees uniform, giving up just one run over six innings. Perez and Eric Young Jr. led the Bees offense as each had a pair of hits on the night.
The Bees will finish up their homestand with a 7:05 p.m. first pitch against the Dodgers at Smith's Ballpark. The Bees will celebrate 90s night with throwback Salt Lake Buzz uniforms. Tickets and more information is available at www.slbees.com.
