Bees walk-off on Grizz 12-11 despite Raudy Read's grand slam

Salt Lake City, Utah (Thursday, June 20) - It took 70 days, but the Fresno Grizzlies (37-35) finally beat the Salt Lake Bees (33-38) 8-4 from Smith's Ballpark. After the game was suspended on April 10 due to rain, the two clubs resumed action in the top of the fourth with Fresno up 8-1. Carter Kieboom enjoyed his first Triple-A homer and three RBI. Brandon Snyder also went deep. Alec Keller added two hits and a pair of RBI to help the offense. Michael Blazek earned the win and Mike Kaelin suffered the loss.
In the scheduled contest, the Bees (34-38) buzzed past the Grizzlies (37-36) 12-11 in seven innings. The clubs combined for 23 runs, 28 hits and 13 walks. Jose Rojas raced home on a wild pitch to score the game-winner with no outs in the seventh. Rojas ended the evening without being retired. He had three hits, five RBI and three runs scored. His homer in the fourth was his 14th of the year. Jarrett Parker and Brennon Lund also smashed dingers for Salt Lake in the victory.
Down 11-7 in the top of the seventh, Raudy Read hammered a grand slam to left field, his 11th of the season. It was Fresno's fourth grand slam of the year and the first since Yadiel Hernandez on May 9th at Sacramento. Andrew Stevenson (2) and Jake Noll (5) also powered pitches over the wall. Stevenson finished the night with three hits, two runs and three RBI. Noll, Kieboom and José Marmolejos picked up multi-hit affairs in the defeat. Fernando Rodney (0-2) was tagged with the decision while Jeremy Rhoades (2-1) mustered the win.

ON THAT FRES-NOTE: The Grizzlies have now played in a suspended game the past two seasons. Last year, Fresno had to resume action at Albuquerque after 48 days, falling 10-3. Rogelio Armenteros started the initial contest and ended up pitching the resumption game as well. Scott Copeland followed the same path as Armenteros, but did not finish the ballgame.
