BILOXI, MISS. - The Jackson Generals, the Double-A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks, did not do a good job keeping the Biloxi Shuckers off base on Monday, taking their fifth straight loss in a 12-2 runaway at MGM Park.

The Shuckers (50-37, 9-8 Second Half) became the first Southern League team to reach 50 wins on the year, while the Generals (45-42, 6-12 Second Half) fell to 30-40 since their season-opening 15-2 start.
Coming off his fourth consecutive win last week, right-hander Joel Payamps (7-3, 3.17 ERA) met his match with the Shuckers, whose performance drove Payamps' ERA up more than 50 points. The home side plated six runs over the first five innings with four extra-base hits, including a solo home run from Troy Stokes Jr. and a bases-clearing triple from Corey Ray. Kirby Bellow and Brian Ellington gave up as many walks as runs scored in 1.1 innings of relief, allowing a half-dozen Shuckers to cross home despite only two hits surrendered between them. Brad Goldberg and Yoan López worked the final 1.2 innings for Jackson.
Three Generals punched in for multiple hits, as Galli Cribbs Jr., Rudy Flores, and Jay Gonzalez each raised their batting average in defeat. Flores extended his team-high mark in doubles (19), but teammate Jamie Westbrook tied him for the team lead in RBI (48) by driving in a run in the sixth. A 4-for-11 mark with runners in scoring position improved Jackson's situational hitting over their last dozen contests by 20 points (up to .182, 23-for-126), but the final score indicated the 14th time that the team has been held to four or fewer runs in 17 Second Half bouts.
