BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo Bisons had a late surge but were unable to overcome a nine-run deficit in a 10-7 loss to the Norfolk Tides on Tuesday evening at Sahlen Field.
Daz Cameron went four-for-five, and Sean Keys launched his eighth home run of the season.
Norfolk got a quick 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Reed Trimble hit an RBI triple to score Enrique Bradfield Jr., and Trimble came home on an RBI groundout by Heston Kjerstad.
The Tides extended their lead to 5-0 in the top of the second inning. Bradfield Jr. hit a sacrifice fly to score Payton Eeles. Trimble followed with an RBI single to score Luis Vazquez, and Bryan Ramos reached home on an error.
Buffalo got on the board in the bottom of the second inning with Daz Cameron reaching home on a wild pitch, making it 5-1.
Norfolk extended their lead to 7-1 in the top of the third on a two-run RBI double by Vazquez that scored Eeles and Jose Barrero.
The Tides made it 9-1 in the top of the fourth inning. Kjerstad hit an RBI groundout to score Bradfield Jr., and Creed Willems followed with an RBI groundout to score Trimble.
CJ Van Eyk retired the side in six pitches for the Bisons in the top of the fifth inning.
Norfolk extended their lead to 10-1 on an RBI single by Willems that scored Bradfield Jr.
Buffalo cut into the deficit in the bottom of the seventh inning. Josh Kasevich hit an RBI groundout that scored Josh Rivera. Charles McAdoo followed with a two-run RBI double that scored Carlos Mendoza and Rudy Martin Jr. Daz Cameron capped it off with an RBI single that scored Sean Keys to make it 10-5.
Van Eyk worked four innings for the Bisons, striking out three.
Javen Coleman retired the side in the top of the ninth, striking out one.
Sean Keys launched a solo home run to make it 10-7.
