Summary
Binghamton's Patrick Biondi drove in the game's only run with a bloop single to right field in the fifth inning, and four pitchers combined on a five-hit shutout, as the Rumble Ponies defeated the Akron RubberDucks, 1-0, Wednesday afternoon at NYSEG Stadium in Binghamton, New York.

Turning Point
The Rumble Ponies (13-9) broke the scoreless tie in the fifth when David Thompson led off with a double against Nick Pasquale (1-2). After back-to-back strikeouts by Pasquale, Biondi lofted a fly ball to shallow right that dropped between right fielder Mike Papi and second baseman Todd Hankins. It went down as an RBI single and gave the Ponies a 1-0 lead.
Winging It
The tough-luck loss notwithstanding, Pasquale was very sharp for the RubberDucks (10-14). He twirled six innings, allowing only four hits. He walked two and fanned a season-high, nine batters. Cole Sulser finished up with two scoreless innings for Akron. On the Binghamton side, Corey Oswalt (3-2) worked the first 5.1 innings to pick up the win. He struck out seven. Kelly Secrest (1.0 IP), Tim Peterson (1.2 IP) and Albert Baldonado (1.0 IP) combined with Oswalt on the whitewash. Baldonado allowed a pair of hits in the ninth, but got Joe Sever to ground out to first to end the game to secure his fourth save.
Duck Tales
Yu Chang singled in the ninth, but was stranded on third. He was 1-2, with two walks in the game. Hankins and Eric Stamets each had doubles. The RubberDucks had men on first and third with two outs in the sixth, but third baseman David Thompson made a diving stop on a grounder by Papi, and threw out Papi at first to end the threat.
