After his latest quality performance, Blue Wahoos pitcher Max Meyer learned Wednesday he was chosen to play in the 22nd annual SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game.

The seven-inning game will be played July 11 at Coors Field in Denver, site of the Major League Baseball All-Star Game on July 13.

The Futures Game will be televised at 2 p.m. on July 11 on the MLB Network. It will showcase many of baseball’s top prospects across all levels in a National League vs. American League format.

“All of the guys playing behind me right now, all of the coaches and teammates I’ve had throughout my career, they’ve all helped me get to this point,” Meyer said. “It’s a really cool experience, I’m sure. I can’t wait to go out there.”

Meyer, 22, a Woodbury, Minnesota native and the No. 3 overall selection by the Miami Marlins in the 2020 MLB Draft, has dazzled in his rookie professional season with the Blue Wahoos. His 1.84 earned run average is the third best among all Double-A level pitchers.

Teammate Jake Eder, who is scheduled to start Thursday for the Blue Wahoos, is No. 2 in the low ERA category.

Meyer, a 6-foot, righthander, was the only Marlins’ prospect chosen among the National League All-Stars for the game and one of just 12 players at the Double-A level.

It followed Meyer’s six-inning, shutout performance Tuesday night in helping the Blue Wahoos to an eventual 5-3 win against the Biloxi Shuckers at Blue Wahoos Stadium.

Meyer entered this season ranked as the No. 3 prospect in the Miami Marlins system by MLB Pipeline.com and No. 20 overall prospect in Minor League Baseball.

The Sirius XM Futures Game rosters were released Wednesday on the MLB Network. Meyer is one of nine pitchers chosen for the National League team in the game.
