The final high school baseball game of 2025 on Friday at Blue Wahoos Stadium features one of the area’s top teams.

The West Florida High Jaguars (15-3), ranked No. 6 among Class 3A teams in Florida, face the Milton Panthers (8-7) at 5 p.m. today at the bayfront ballpark. Admission is $10. Parking is free. The game itself will be handled by the Blue Wahoos staff with between innings entertainment, music, one of the Blue Wahoos’ public address announcers and other aspects.

This game occurs one week before the Blue Wahoos begin their 2025 season next Friday against the Biloxi Shuckers. There will be two storefronts open for food purchases, along with the Blue Wahoos new “Grab N Go” area.

The Jaguars began their season in mid-February with nine consecutive wins before a non-district loss to Navarre. They followed with six wins in their next seven games before Wednesday night’s loss to Fort Walton Beach-Choctawhatchee.

Milton will be the home team in this game and occupy the Blue Wahoos home dugout. The Panthers won six of their first seven games before encountering a recent slide.

But they are 2-2 in their last four games with wins against Navarre and Escambia High.

West Florida’s top hitter is sophomore Hayden Huntsinger with a .381 average. Freshman Gabe Venable has the team’s highest on-base percentage at .440 and is also one of the team’s top pitchers.

Seniors Jacob McLendon (.353 average) and Adam Geiger (.327) are also having strong seasons. Geiger leads the team with seven stolen bases and 17 RBI.

Milton is led by Parker McCoy and Saylor Melton. McCoy has a team high .359 average, Melton is second at .333. McCoy leads in hits and is second on the team for RBI. Melton has the team’s best slugging percentage at .515.

This game continues a busy month of events at Blue Wahoos Stadium. Weather-permitting, the ballpark will have hosted 24 event days in the 31 days of March before starting the Blue Wahoos home schedule next Friday.

The Blue Wahoos team will have players and coaches arriving on Monday and Tuesday with the team’s first workout – open to the public – on April 2 at 6 p.m.
