Tacoma's Carson Taylor hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to put the Rainiers ahead in their 3-1 win over the El Paso Chihuahuas Thursday night at Cheney Stadium. The Chihuahuas took the first lead of the game when left fielder Carlos Rodríguez hit an RBI single with two outs in the sixth inning. The Chihuahuas and Rainiers have split the first two games of the series.

San Diego Padres pitcher Matt Waldron started and threw four shutout innings, striking out six. Waldron has pitched seven innings on MLB Injury Rehab for the Chihuahuas this season and hasn't allowed any runs or walked any batters. Former Chihuahuas pitcher Gabe Mosser allowed one run in six innings in his start for the Rainiers.

Sean Boyle pitched two shutout innings out of the Chihuahuas' bullpen. El Paso leadoff hitter Jase Bowen went 2-for-4 with two doubles. Each of the Chihuahuas' last four games have been decided by one or two runs.
