WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (July 22, 2019) - Thanks to a nine-inning no-hitter last Monday, Wilmington's Jonathan Bowlan is the Pitcher of the Week for July 15-21, while league highs in several offensive categories propelled Winston-Salem's Craig Dedelow to the Player of the Week honor, the Carolina League office announced on Monday afternoon.
Bowlan came one error away from a perfect game, but he settled for the Blue Rocks' first no-hitter since former Major Leaguer Brian Sanches accomplished the feat against Lynchburg on May 2, 2000. The Memphis, Tenn., native fanned nine over 98 pitches in a thrilling 3-0 victory over Carolina, which marked the first no-hitter in the Carolina League this season.

"I got in my comfort zone," Bowlan said to the Wilmington media relations department shortly after the game. "When I'm on that mound, it's just me and the catcher that's in front of me, and I was just focused on taking it one pitch at a time, one out at a time and not trying to overthink things."
The former second-round pick followed up last Monday's effort with a five-inning, nine-strikeout effort against the Mudcats in Zebulon on Sunday, which ended on a Carolina walk-off in the ninth. In all, Bowlan boasts a 10-3 record and a 2.98 earned run average in 19 appearances between Low-A Lexington and Wilmington. With the Blue Rocks, he is 4-1 with a 2.31 ERA in six outings.
Dedelow paced the Carolina League in several offensive categories en route to the Dash's fourth Player of the Week award of 2019. The former Indiana University star led the way in hits (10), home runs (3), RBIs (7), runs (7), total bases (22) and OPS (1.538).
Like Bowlan, Dedelow used one signature performance to claim his first professional weekly award. On Sunday in a walk-off win over Down East, Dedelow went 3-for-5 with two home runs and four RBIs.
The former ninth-round pick did hit safely in all six games last week, pushing his season-long batting average to .270 in 90 games with Winston-Salem. Dedelow boasts team-high marks in both home runs (13) and RBIs (48).
