Braves shut out by Mets in pitchers' duel

DANVILLE, Va- The Danville bats went quiet in a 1-0 loss to the Kingsport Mets on Thursday night. The Mets only needed two hits, while the Braves could only muster three.

DANVILLE, Va- The Danville bats went quiet in a 1-0 loss to the Kingsport Mets on Thursday night. The Mets only needed two hits, while the Braves could only muster three.

The lone run of the game came in the second inning when the Mets put runners on the corners for Dionis Paulino. Paulino grounded out to Danville second baseman Riley Delgado, allowing the runner on third to score. Danville starter Jasseel De La Cruz left the game following the play, walking off the field with the trainer and manager Nestor Perez. Dilmer Mejia pitched five scoreless innings in relief.
Danville only had one runner reach second base, a booming double off the bat of Austin Bush. Jeffrey Ramos and Garrison Schwartz registered the Braves' other two hits. For Danville, it marked their second time being shut out, with both of them coming by 1-0 scores in back-to-back home games dating back to last Thursday.

Kyle Muller makes his first start in over two weeks as the Braves take on the Mets on Brandon Drury Bobblehead night Friday.
