Greenville picked up their first run in the first inning when Ryan Scott hit a sac fly to score Tyler Hill and give the Drive a 1-0 lead.

No team would scratch the scoreboard for the next seven innings as both team's pitching staffs were outstanding. Jay Groome and Robby Sexton combined to go nine innings giving up only two hits for Greenville, while Jeremy Walker, Matt Custred and Taylor Lewis went eight innings giving up two runs on seven hits for Rome. Greenville was able to plate an insurance run in the ninth inning on a Tucker Tubbs RBI double and took the game by the 2-0 final.
Groome (1-1) earns the win for Greenville while Walker (3-8) takes the loss for Rome. Rome has gone 19 innings now without scoring a run while the pitching staff has allowed only six earned runs in the last four games. The team is only 1-3 during that span.
The Braves and Drive face off in game two of the series tomorrow night at 7p.m.
