ASHEVILLE- For the first time this season, Jordan Brewer was inserted into the leadoff spot for the Asheville Tourists. The outfielder wasted little time making a statement. Brewer went 3-for-4 with a double, a triple, and a Home Run along with three runs scored and two stolen bases. It was not enough, however, and the Tourists fell to the Greenville Drive 9-6.

Asheville built a 2-1 lead over the game’s first three innings. Diosmerky Taveras pitched well for Asheville as he notched five strikeouts during that stretch. Offensively, Chad Stevens plated the first run with an RBI single and Nerio Rodriguez scored on a passed ball.

The Drive rallied to score the game’s next seven runs with three in the fourth, two in the fifth, and two more in the sixth. Ceddane Rafaela hit a pair of Home Runs for the visitors.

Asheville used an RBI single from Zach Daniels in the sixth and Brewer’s two-run Home Run in the eighth to pull within three, but the Tourists were never able to bring the tying run to the plate. Each team exchanged runs in the ninth.

Cristian Gonzalez finished the contest with two hits while Rodriguez extended his hitting streak to five games with a double in the ninth. Asheville and Greenville wrap up their six-game series on Sunday afternoon.
