OGDEN, UT - A 10-run fourth inning by the Ogden Raptors (15-14) spoiled the end of the Helena Brewers (13-16) seven-game road trip as they fell 17-8 on Tuesday night at Lindquist Field.
Helena got out to one of their patented hot starts, scoring two runs in the first inning on a Gabriel Garcia home run, his third of the season, to give the Brewers a 2-0 lead.
Ogden countered right back, sending seven men to the plate before an out was recorded, scoring five runs to take a 5-2 lead. Starter Alec Bettinger lasted just two-thirds of an inning, allowing five runs, four earned, off five hits and one walk.
The Brewers used a two-out rally to tie the game in the top of the second. Nicolas Pierre singled and was brought in on a triple by Nick Roscetti. Dallas Carroll followed with a two-run homer, his second of the year, to even the game at 5-5.
Helena retook the lead in the fourth inning. Franly Mallen started the inning with a double and came around to score on a two-out single by Carroll, giving Helena a 6-5 lead. Carroll finished the night 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI, a walk and a run scored.
The Raptors blew the game open in the home half of the frame. Ogden sent 15 men to the plate, pounding out nine hits against three Helena pitchers en route to a 10-run inning, putting the game out of reach at 15-6.
The Brewers have the day off on Wednesday before returning to Helena to start a three-game series with the Idaho Falls Chukars on Thursday night at 7:05 PM. Helena sends RHP Dylan File (0-1, 4.61) to the mound while Idaho Falls has not named a starter.
