Bulls Falter in Back-and-Forth Fight with Tides

Durham, NC --- Jeremiah Jackson singled home the tie-breaking run in the eighth inning to lead the Norfolk Tides past the Durham Bulls 7-6 on Wednesday night at the DBAP.

The Bulls (30-22) took a 6-4 lead in the sixth on a two-run homer by Victor Mesa Jr. only to see the Tides (19-31) score the final three runs of the game. Jose Barrero tied the game with a two-run shot in the seventh off Hunter Bigge before Jackson's game-winning single off Kodi Whitley (L, 0-1) with two outs in the eighth.

Durham took a 1-0 lead in the second thanks to a single by Blake Sabol. After the Tides scored twice in the third against Bulls starter Jesse Scholtens, Nick Madrigal tied the game in the bottom half on a homer to left.

The Bulls moved ahead 4-2 in the fourth on RBI-singles from Logan Davidson and Tre Morgan.

Enrique Bradfield, who doubled home a run in the third, connected for a two-run shot to right against Scholtens to tie the game.

Scholtens threw 83 pitches across five innings, receiving a no-decision.

Tatem Levins and Madrigal each had two hits, with Tre Morgan going 3-5 with two doubles to pace Durham's 11-hit attack.

The series continues Thursday night at 6:45 PM ET with Logan Workman (2-7, 6.40) expected to match up against Trey Gibson (3-5, 4.08).

Notes: The Bulls fell 2 1/2 off the second half pace with their second straight loss to the Tides. First place Indianapolis beat Columbus Wednesday afternoon to push the Bulls further off the lead... Mesa Jr., assigned to the Bulls on a major league rehab by the Tampa Bay Rays, drilled a left-center field homer against lefty Dietrich Enns. Mesa Jr., who began the season with Durham, has been on the 10-day IL with a left hamstring injury.
