COLUMBIA, SC - Fireflies starter Jose Butto posted his most impressive start of the year on Thursday. The 21-year-old from Venezuela shut Delmarva out over 5.2 innings and wound up scattering just four hits. The Shorebirds claimed the win in the series finale by a final score of 1-0.
Butto exited in the top of the sixth after throwing his 67th pitch (Butto threw 23 pitches on Sunday). The right-hander has now not allowed any earned runs in three of his last four outings. Butto walked a pair on Thursday, his first free passes issued since April 5.
Butto and Delmarva (20-4) starter Blaine Knight (W, 3-0) battled for much of the evening. Knight wound up with seven strikeouts and no walks over six shut-out frames.  
The only score in the game came in the third when Robbie Thorburn hit a home run off of Columbia (8-18) reliever Billy Oxford (L, 0-1).
Wagner Lagrange tallied two hits on Thursday, his team-best sixth multi-hit game of the year.
