1B Kacy Clemens (2-for-3), 3B Bryan Lizardo (2-for-5) and C Matt Morgan (2-for-5) had multi-hit nights for the Canadians with Morgan slamming his 2nd home run of the season off of Volcanoes RHP John Timmins in the top of the 8th inning to put the series opener out of reach.
Canadians LHP Zach Logue (1-0) managed his first Northwest League victory going three scoreless innings allowing just one hit while RHP Justin Dillon pitched a pair of scoreless innings, stirking out three to keep the Volcanoes at bay.
The win improves Vancouver to 19-16 (.542) on the season with just three games remaining in the first half. It also puts them 1 1/2 games up on Tri-City with three games remaining as the Dust Devils were still on the diamond opposite Eugene at the time of this article.
Vancouver plays game two of this five-game series on Friday, July 21st at 6:35pm with RHP Juan Nunez (2-2) getting the ball in hopes of inching closer toward the North Division pennant.
