EUGENE, OR – A two-run lead entering the seventh wasn’t enough for the Canadians Thursday night in a 10-7 loss to the Eugene Emeralds (SF) at PK Park.

In front 7-5 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning, the C’s saw Eugene load the bases with two outs before a throwing error on what would have been an inning-ending groundout allowed two runs to score and tie the game. A three-run homer from Zander Darby in the eighth put the nail in the coffin.

Vancouver rallied from a three-run deficit in the middle innings to take their second lead of the game. Jean Joseph clobbered a game-tying three-run shot in the fourth to make it 4-4 then Bryce Chance and Gable Mitchell delivered consecutive RBI singles in the fifth to put the Canadians in front 6-4.Eugene used a solo homer in the bottom of the fifth to pull within a run then Jake Casey stroked a two-out, pinch-hit RBI double in the seventh to make it 7-5.

With the loss and other results from around the Northwest League, the C’s are 1.5 games back of the first place Emeralds and have a two-game lead on a playoff position with 15 games to play.
