Call's squeeze bunt gives Dash walk-off win

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (April 21, 2018) - The Dash scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning - capped by a suicide squeeze bunt from Alex Call - to defeat the Salem Red Sox 4-3 in walk-off fashion on Saturday night at BB&T Ballpark. 
Winston-Salem (10-7) trailed by two entering the final frame, but the ballclub quickly tied the game against Joan Martinez (1-1). First, Yermin Mercedes led off with a single to right field and made it to third base on an error by the right fielder Tyler Hill. Zach Remillardfollowed with an RBI single to bring the Dash within a run.

The next batter, Ti'Quan Forbes, tripled to deep right-center to bring in Remillard and knot the game at three. A walk to Mitch Romanand an intentional walk to Joel Booker loaded the bases with nobody out for Call, who delieved a squeeze bunt to bring in Forbes as the game-winning run.
The victory is the Dash's third walk-off win this season, and it is the second that's ended with a walk-off suicide squeeze bunt. Last Saturday, Booker delivered the squeeze bunt to give Winston-Salem a walk-off win over the Carolina Mudcats. 
Mike Morrison (3-0) earned the victory, allowing one unearned run in two hitless innings. Morrison now leads the Carolina League in wins. 
The Red Sox (9-8) got on the scoreboard first, when Santiago Espinal homered off of Dane Dunning to lead off the game. But Dunning promptly settled down, retiring the next eight batters he faced-including five strikeouts. He finished the night allowing two runs on seven hits across a season-high seven innings. The former Florida Gator also tied a season-high with eight strikeouts. 
Salem starter Roniel Raudes kept Winston-Salem off the scoreboard until the fourth. Two batters after Gavin Sheets drew a one-out walk, Remillard drove a double to deep centerfield that one-hopped the fence and brought Sheets in to tie the game. The double extends Remillard's hitting streak to five games. 
But, the Red Sox retook the lead in the following frame. Tyler Hill led off the top of the fifth with a single, and Jhon Nunez followed with a double to left-center field to give the Red Sox a 2-1 lead.
Salem added to its lead in the eighth. With two outs, Espinal was caught in-between second and third after taking off on a ball in the dirt. Mercedes threw to second base behind him, and Forbes then threw to third to try and get Espinal. But, Remillard couldn't handle Forbes' throw, and the error allowed Espinal to cross the plate. 
Winston-Salem's series with Salem finishes with a 2 p.m. contest on Sunday at BB&T Ballpark. Left-hander Bernardo Flores (1-1, 4.50 ERA) takes the hill for the Dash against Red Sox right-hander Jake Thompson (0-1, 4.11 ERA).
