The Kansas City Royals announced a series of transactions on Sunday that affects their Triple-A affiliate Omaha Storm Chasers roster prior to this afternoon's contest versus the Sacramento River Cats at Werner Park.
Catcher Cam Gallagher has been recalled by Kansas City and would make his Major League debut when he first appears in a game for the Royals. The 24-year-old 68 games with the Storm Chasers has accumulated a .294 average (70-238) with 24 runs, 12 doubles, five homers and 34 RBI. Gallagher ranks second among Pacific Coast League catchers by throwing out 37% of would-be basestealers.

Gallagher, rated the 17th-best prospect and "Best Defensive Catcher" in the Royals organization by Baseball America prior to this season, would become the sixth different member of the 2017 Storm Chasers roster to make his Major League debut with Kansas City this season. He was selected by the Royals in the second round of the 2011 MLB Draft out of Manheim Township High School in Pennsylvania.
In a corresponding move, catcher Luis Villegas has been transferred to Omaha from Low-A Lexington. In 21 minor league contests between the Legends and Double-A Northwest Arkansas he has posted a .250 average (18-72) with eight runs, two doubles, two homers and 12 RBI this season.
As a result of these transactions, the Storm Chasers' active roster stands at 25 players, in addition to seven on the Disabled List and infielder Cheslor Cuthbert on a Major League Rehab Assignment. A revised roster is attached.
Omaha concludes their four-game series with the River Cats on Sunday afternoon, with first pitch scheduled for 2:0 p.m. CT at Werner Park. LHP Onelki Garcia (4-2, 4.50) is slated to climb the hill for the Storm Chasers, while Sacramento is expected to send RHP Jose Flores (1-1, 3.86) to toe the rubber.
Tickets for this afternoon and all remaining 2017 Storm Chasers games are still available and can be purchased online at www.omahastormchasers.com/tickets, or by calling the Werner Park Ticket Office at (402) 738-5100. Werner Park Ticket Office hours can be viewed by clicking here.
