Camilletti Leads Guacamayas to Comeback Win

CHARLOTTE, NC – The Guacamayas de Charlotte defeated the Durham Bulls 5-4 in an exciting ballgame at Truist Field on Friday night. The Knights trailed 3-0 late but rallied back behind Mario Camilletti’s offensive heroics and a strong relief pitching performance from an unlikely candidate, position player Riley Unroe.

Camilletti put the Guacamayas on the board with a solo Home Run in the bottom of the sixth inning. The blast cut the Bulls’ lead down to 3-1.

In the seventh, Dru Baker delivered a two-out RBI single and brought Charlotte within a run. Two batters later, Camilletti crushed a two-run double and the Guacamayas took their first lead at 4-3.

Tim Elko provided a key insurance run with a solo homer in the eighth and it proved to be the game-winner.

Charlotte was forced into a bullpen game on the mound and Adisyn Coffey, Tyler Gilbert, Peyton Pallette, and Jaden Woods took care of the first seven frames. In the eighth, the Guacamayas turned to Unroe and the position player navigated his way through the stanza unscathed.

Unroe came back out to start the ninth before Garrett Schoenle came in and recorded the game’s final two outs for his second save in as many games. Unroe was credited with a hold with a majority of his pitches crossing the plate at 33mph.

Camilletti and Baker both finished with two hits and Woods earned the win with a pair of shutout innings pitched.

The Knights will look to win their third straight on Saturday evening with Game Five set for 6:05pm ET.
