Cardiac Kernels Rally for 5-4 Victory
BURLINGTON, IOWA - Yeltsin Encarnacion hit a two-out, bases-clearing double in the ninth inning to give the Cedar Rapids Kernels a 5-4 win Wednesday against the Burlington Bees at Community Field. Millard lifted the Bees to a 4-2 advantage during the seventh inning. After a one-out double by Wenson and a walk for Rubalcaba, Millard sent a three-run home run over the left-field wall and collected his first round-tripper of the year.
The Kernels were down to their final strike before Encarnacion's decisive double.
Coming up, Cedar Rapids will play at home on the Fourth of July for the 11th season in a row. First pitch between the Kernels and the Bees is slated for 5:05 p.m. Thursday, and the probable pitchers are Cedar Rapids right-hander
Gates open at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, and the first 1,000 fans will receive a Military Heroes Baseball Card Set courtesy of Dave Wright Subaru. The individuals in the card set will be honored in a postgame ceremony that will be followed by fireworks. The Kernels Ticket Office is open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturdays. On Sundays when the Kernels have a home game, the Kernels Ticket Office will open at 11:00 a.m.
