CHARLESTON, S.C. - The New York Yankees have announced that RiverDogs outfielder Carlos Vidal has been activated from the seven-day disabled list, returning to the RiverDogs active roster as Charleston prepares for a chance to clinch their second straight postseason berth in Thursday night's regular season home finale at Riley

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The New York Yankees have announced that RiverDogs outfielder Carlos Vidal has been activated from the seven-day disabled list, returning to the RiverDogs active roster as Charleston prepares for a chance to clinch their second straight postseason berth in Thursday night's regular season home finale at Riley Park.
The Colombian outfielder was one of the hottest hitters in the league before a foot-injury sidelined him in early August. The left-handed batter had gone 34-for-99 (.343) since the beginning of July, the third-best average in the league over that span. Vidal is hitting .304 with a .355 on-base percentage, one homer and 25 RBI in 66 games with Charleston overall this year.
The 23-day spell on the DL was Vidal's second trip after missing most of the month of June with an injury and a rehab assignment to Staten Island. He sat out most of his third pro season due to injury in 2016, appearing in just 19 games, including four with the RiverDogs.
Vidal takes Devyn Bolasky's spot on the active roster after the California native left mid-game after a collision at the wall in left field on Wednesday night. In another move, right-hander David Sosebee was called up to Trenton after logging two scoreless innings with the Thunder and picking up a save in his Double-A debut on August 20.

Righty Chase Hodson was called back up from Staten Island to take Sosebee's spot. The former Texas State Bobcat logged 5 2/3 scoreless innings with Charleston squad earlier in the month.
With a chance to clinch the second-half title with a win, the RiverDogs (74-60, 40-24) face Northern-Division leading Hickory in the homestand finale on Thursday night at 6:35pm. A RiverDogs win, Greenville loss, or a game cancellation at Fluor Field would all clinch the second straight playoff berth for the RiverDogs. Charleston will send their staff ace, righty Freicer Perez (10-3, 2.81), to toe the rubber, opposed by Crawdads righty Edgar Arredondo (6-6, 3.83). First pitch is set for 6:35pm.
