VANCOUVER, BC – A walk-off home run from Jake Casey in the bottom of the ninth on Wednesday night at The Nat gave the Canadians a 6-3 victory over the Tri-City Dust Devils (LAA). After plating three runs in the second, Vancouver saw its lead slip away as the Dust Devils worked their way back into the game late to tie it and force the C’s to play the bottom of the ninth. With the win, the Canadians are in sole possession of first place for the first time this year and have matched their longest winning streak of the season with their fifth consecutive victory.
Tied heading into the ninth, the Canadians used consecutive walks to start the inning to put the winning run in scoring position. After a strikeout, Casey hammered a ball 412 ft at 107 MPH over the right field wall for the first C’s walk-off home run since August 23, 2025, when Sean Keys beat the Dust Devils with a game-winning dinger.
Vancouver started the scoring in the second. In his first appearance as a Canadian, former Dust Devil David Calabrese drew a walk before he stole second during the next at-bat. A hit-by-pitch would put one more C’s runner on base before a Bryce Chance single would score the first run of the game. Another walk would load the bases for #1 Blue Jays prospect JoJo Parker, who hit a two-RBI single to make it 3-0.
The Dust Devils responded with a run of their own in the third. They tied the score late in the game when they plated an unearned run in the seventh and added another tally in the eighth.
Landen Maroudis took the mound for his league-high 21st start of the year. He retired the first seven batters he faced before giving up his only hit and run in the top of the third. Maroudis was finished after five, scattering three walks and four strikeouts over his fifth consecutive start of five innings or more.
Reece Fields saw action in the middle innings. He held the Dust Devils scoreless in the sixth and gave up two hits, a walk and an unearned run in the seventh but kept any further runs from scoring. Franly Urena worked the eighth and allowed a run on two hits with a walk and a strikeout.
Jack Eshleman retired the side in order in the ninth to keep the game even and set up Casey’s heroics in the home half.
The C’s will face off against the Dust Devils again tomorrow night, with first pitch at 7:05 p.m. on Bally Sports Live, MiLB TV, the MiLB App and the C’s Broadcast Network.
