(Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium - Vancouver, B.C.) - A two-run single from SS Logan Warmoth in the bottom of the 5th inning helped the Vancouver Canadians come from behind to win the 2017 Northwest League Championship three-games-to-one over Eugene out at historic Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium.
Eugene knew they had to win back-to-back games in Vancouver starting with Tuesday's game and loaded the bases in the top of the 1st inning on a single and two walks from Canadians starter RHP Justin Dillon. The right-hander out of Sacramento State weaved his way out of trouble and ended up going three scoreless innings before handing the ball off to LHP Zach Logue.
The first batter that Logue faced in the top of the 4th inning was DH Michael Cruz who hit a leadoff home run over the right field fence to give the Emeralds a 1-0 lead. It would be the only run Eugene would score on the night as Logue would settle in going three innings allowing three hits. Canadians relievers RHP Brayden Bouchey (2.0IP), RHP Orlando Pascual (0.2IP) and RHP William Ouellette (0.1IP) stymied the Emeralds offense going three innings of no-hit baseball to secure the victory as Logue got the win (1-0), Ouellette (2) the save. Canadians pitching would strike out 16 Eugene Emeralds in the series clinching victory.
With the victory, Vancouver wins its 4th Northwest League Championship in franchise history and the first since 2013. Vancouver finishes the season 48-34 (.585) and 5-1 (.833) in the 2017 Northwest League Playoffs presented by Scotiabank.
The Vancouver Canadians Baseball Club wishes to thank each and every fan, partner and media outlet that was kind enough to support our franchise this season. We look forward to seeing you all on June 15th as we begin defense of the Northwest League Championship.
