Charlie Blackmon Expected to Play at Werner Park Wednesday
Colorado Rockies All-Star outfielder Charlie Blackmon is anticipated to play at Werner Park on Wednesday evening against the Omaha Storm Chasers as part of a Major League Rehab Assignment with the Albuquerque Isotopes. The 32-year-old was placed on the 10-day Injured List with a right calf strain on May 27. In 46 contests with the Rockies this season he has compiled a .300 average (60-200), adding 35 runs, 13 doubles, five triples, ten homers and 31 RBI.
Blackmon has been tabbed a National League All-Star in three seasons, including each of the last two years. He earned Silver Slugger honors consecutively in 2016-17, in addition to finishing fifth in National League Most Valuable Player Award voting in 2017.
The nine-year MLB veteran has accumulated a .302 mark (1122-3712) in 966 career games with Colorado along with 636 runs, 198 doubles, 45 triples, 150 homers and 456 RBI since making his Major League debut on June 7, 2011. He was selected by the Rockies in the second round of the 2008 MLB Draft out of Georgia Tech.
He previously played in the Pacific Coast League with the Colorado Springs Sky Sox between the 2011-13 campaigns, which included three games at Werner Park versus the Storm Chasers between August 6-8 in 2012. Between those three seasons he compiled a .309 average (225-728) with 160 runs, 52 doubles, 14 triples, 18 homers and 123 RBI.
