PAWTUCKET, R.I. -
The PawSox (48-56), who were seeking the sweep of the three-game series, stranded 11 runners, including at least one in eight of the nine innings. Charlotte (49-56), meanwhile, scored in each of the first five innings, constructing its 8-0 lead by the midpoint of the ballgame.
Hours after arriving at the ballpark following his promotion from Double-A Portland, former third-round pick Jordan Weems made his Pawtucket debut by throwing three innings of one-run work. Weems, who converted from a position player to a pitcher early in the 2016 season, flashed a mid-90s fastball and prevented any significant further damage from Charlotte's offense.
Butler (2-for-4) led the way for a Pawtucket offense that recorded seven hits but went 0-for-16 with runners in scoring position.
